Following a competitive tendering process in mid-2008, we were successful in being awarded a three year contract to provide an advice service for patients in GP surgeries across Islington. The service is commissioned and funded by Islington Primary Care Trust (now called NHS Islington).

We provide welfare benefits and debt advice for patients. We also aim to provide support to people who are either at risk of losing their employment because of ill-health or who are unemployed and considering work options. Camden CAB took over responsibility for the service in December 2008. One full time senior adviser and two part-time advisers provide outreach sessions in nine GP surgeries in Islington. Demand for the service is very high.
