Citizens Advice Camden is a charity that provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to people on their rights and responsibilities. We also collect evidence, and lobby to improve, the policies and practices that adversely affect people’s lives.
Citizens Advice Camden is over 75 years old. We provide high quality advice and are both the leading provider of voluntary sector advice services in Camden and the largest Citizens Advice Bureau in London.
We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination.
We deliver our services through three high street offices, GP surgeries, hospitals, outreach sites and using the latest technology.
The majority of the problems we deal with concern welfare benefits, debt, housing and employment.
We manage the operation on a sound commercial basis and belong to the national umbrella group ‘Citizens Advice’ which audits our effectiveness and quality of advice.
Citizens Advice Camden is run by a Board of Trustees of elected local people, and representatives of statutory and voluntary organisations.
The Service employs 35 people and benefits from around 130 volunteers.
The Board of Trustees is supported in its work by a small Head Office consisting of a full time Chief Executive, an Office Manager and a Financial Controller. The Office Manager oversees the office systems and the Financial Controller draws up budgets in consultation with the Chief Executive, and records and monitors expenditure.
The Chief Executive has overall responsibility on behalf of the Board of Trustees for the management and development of the service. This involves servicing the Board and working with the bureaux and project managers through the Senior Management Team. The Board of Trustees appoints a Treasurer who monitors the financial position of the charity on behalf of the Board.
