Universal Support Help to Claim Adviser

Hours We are recruiting 2 advisers working either:

5 days per week and 2.5 days per week or

4 days per week and 3.5 days per week

Salary £28,974 – £30,168 FTE depending on experience
Contract type Fixed term until 31 March 2020

Role Purpose

Our Universal Support: Help to Claim service offers end-to-end support to help people make a new Universal Credit claim and be ready for when their first payment arrives.

This service is delivered face-to-face and by telephone and webchat to increase accessibility for local people. Training will be given in the use of our telephone and webchat systems.

We are looking for two qualified generalist advisers with strong experience of welfare benefits and universal credit advice, and with good IT skills to support clients in making and completing their new Universal Credit claim. This will include casework when needed to get the claim into payment including challenging incorrect assessments.

You’ll have the ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of the issues and empower clients, whilst maintaining structure and control of meetings.
