Camden CAB Service

Great Ormond Street Hospital

Providing advice where and when it is most needed.

Our project at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) started in June 2008 with partnership funding for the first 3 years from the Santander Trust. Since this funding ended the hospital charity has agreed to provide increased funding for 2 full time advisers who are assisted by a team of trained volunteers until 2014.

This innovative project works very closely with existing services at the hospital in particular social services, support workers and PALS who act as gateway referring partners identifying families who are in greatest need.

The CAB is in the right place at the right time to offer advice and help with problems families of sick and disabled children commonly face. Such problems often include a drop in income when parents cannot work due to caring duties and debts that were sustainable then becoming unmanageable and help with unsuitable housing conditions.

The projects successes include more than £1million pounds in extra income and debts managed and the project was awarded a prestigious national award for its social policy work in 2011.
