About Citizens Advice Camden

Citizens Advice Camden is a well-respected local charity with more than 80 years’ experience of delivering free, independent and impartial information, advice and casework services which meet the changing needs of local residents. Our aims are to provide the independent, impartial, confidential and free advice people need for the problems they face and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

We target our services at the most vulnerable in our community. Our client profile closely matches local indices of deprivation with most of our clients coming from the most deprived wards in the borough. We identify trends to ensure our services remain agile and able to respond to changing and emerging advice needs.

About the Role

The Training & Advice Supervisor is a key member of our Community Advice team working on two vital functions, the recruitment and training of advisors and the supervision of the core advice service. In doing so, you will help ensure we provide a quality advice service to Camden residents across face-to-face, telephone, video channels and other digital developments and ensure the contract targets, outputs and outcomes of all the generalist advice contracts are met.

The Training & Advice Supervisor will spend on average 70% of their time working together with the Advice Supervisors supervising volunteers delivering our advice services, and 30% recruiting and training new volunteers as well as contributing to meeting   learning and development needs across our organisation. The percentage split at any given time will depend on the service needs as determined through discussion with the Community Advice Project Manager. There will be periods when the Training & Advice Supervisor will spend most of their time recruiting volunteers and delivering training alternated with periods when most of their time will be spent supervising advice sessions (i.e in between new training groups). Some of the training will be delivered remotely using online training sessions and self-study, and so the successful candidate will be proficient at using relevant ICT platforms and able to train and motivate other staff in using them. Additional administrative support with recruitment and training will be provided by the Senior Office Administrator.

This is a dynamic role suitable for an individual who is able to work flexibly to juggle both parts of the role and prioritise each depending on the service needs.
